Electric Mobility
70 percent of typical daily trips with passenger cars are shorter than 50 kilometers. Such distances should be driven electrically in the future. This is the most energy-efficient solution, which also reduces pollution in urban zones.
Empa is researching and benchmarking the performance and efficiency of various drive systems in the move mobility demonstrator. The focus is on electric drives, fuel cell drives and hybrid drives powered by synthetic fuels.
Several Empa scientists are working in Europe-wide research programs on the future of battery storage and the charging infrastructure of the future.
